Under the leadership of Mayor Strike B. Revilla, the City Government of Bacoor successfully organized Part 1 of the U4U (Youth for Youth) Teen Workshop on October 7, 2023. This momentous event, held at Bacoor National High School (BNHS) Main Molino, was spearheaded by the City Population Office, headed by Ms. Emilie D. De Castro. The workshop focused on the crucial Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Program, which aims to empower and guide young individuals in making informed decisions concerning friendships, relationships, education, and family matters.
The workshop commenced with an orientation delivered by the Regional Office of the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) Region IV. The invaluable insights provided by Ms. Cheryl Marie A. Malayang, Planning Officer II, Mr. Neil Ivan E Quitanong, Mr. Felix D. Cansag Jr, and Mr. Jessie S. Campillos of POPCOM RO IV, shed light on the pressing issues faced by adolescents and equipped participants with the necessary knowledge to navigate through them.
The primary objective of the U4U Teen Workshop was to assist Filipino teenagers in discovering their identities and making sound decisions related to friendships, relationships, education, and family life. By addressing these fundamental aspects, the workshop aimed to mitigate the occurrence of early pregnancies among youths aged 10 to 19 years old and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.
The City Government of Bacoor would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated individuals from the Bacoor City Population Office for their unwavering commitment and hard work in organizing the U4U Teen Workshop. Under the exceptional leadership of Ms. Emilie D. De Castro, the City Population Office has played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this flagship communication campaign. Their tireless efforts in coordinating the event, securing partnerships with relevant organizations such as POPCOM Region IV, and developing a comprehensive program deserve special recognition. The team’s passion for empowering the youth and promoting adolescent health and development has been instrumental in creating a transformative experience for the participants.
Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to the participating offices, including POPCOM Region IV under the leadership of Regional Director Marlyn Ogaya. A special thanks goes to Bacoor City School Superintendent Ms. Babylyn Pambid, Ph.D., and Dr. Teodoro A. Gloriani, the School Principal of BNHS Main, for their unwavering support in facilitating the workshop. The Iscool Teen Center (ITC) and its advisers, Mr. Arnold Belarmino and Ms. Luisa Erbon, also played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event.
Part 2 of the U4U Teen Workshop is scheduled to take place on October 14, 2023, allowing participants to delve deeper into the topics discussed during Part 1.
