October 16, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Strike Gymnasium, a momentous event unfolded – the awarding ceremony of the Capital Seed Fund. This is an integral part of the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program – Zero Hunger Risk Resiliency Program, an initiative brought to life by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the City Government of Bacoor, under the guidance and leadership of Mayor Strike B. Revilla.
The ceremony was held to recognize and honor the achievements of three newly formed Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs): Nagkakaisang Mandaragat ng Alima at Sineguelasan SLP Association, Nagkakaisang Mandaragat ng Sineguelasan at Talaba 2 SLP Association, and Nagkakaisang Mandaragat ng Talaba 2 at Zapote 5 SLP Association. These associations are composed entirely of dedicated fisherfolks who have undergone rigorous training programs organized by BFAR and DSWD in partnership with the City Government of Bacoor.
The Capital Seed Fund, also known as Tulong Puhunan, was awarded to these deserving associations during the flag raising ceremony earlier today. This fund serves as the starting capital for their upcoming Tahungan project, which aims to establish sustainable and long-term livelihood opportunities in their respective communities.
The primary objective of the Capital Seed Fund program is to alleviate poverty and enhance the quality of life, particularly for fisherfolks who continue to face the challenges brought about by the previous pandemic. By providing financial support and resources, the program aims to empower these associations to build a better future for themselves and their families.
The awarding ceremony took place in the presence of Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, Sangguniang Panglungsod Members, and the entire City Government of Bacoor. This event signifies the commitment and dedication of the local government in promoting social welfare and sustainable development within the community.
Today’s ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey towards creating a brighter and more resilient future for the fisherfolks of Bacoor City. It is a testament to the collective effort and collaboration of various stakeholders working together to uplift lives and foster positive change.
