Bacoor City – The Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) led the First Quarter Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and Management Council IV-A Committee on Disaster Response and Early Recovery Meeting on March 20, 2024. This pivotal event took place at the Legislative and Disaster Resilience Building.
The meeting was attended by notable personalities and officials from various agencies and organizations. Among them were Bacoor Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Mr. Richard Quion, the head of BDRRMO, Dr. Barry Chua, the Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) IV-A, and Mr. Carlos Eduardo Ermita Alvarez III, the Regional Director and Chairperson of the Regional DRRM Council. Members of the Regional DRRM Committee on Disaster Response, Provincial DRRM of CALABARZON, and other committee member agencies actively participated in the event.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the programs and actions implemented, alongside the monitoring of effects brought about by El Niño. The meeting also focused on the response and preparedness measures in place to address the escalating problems due to the current climate situation of the region.
Key topics discussed during the meeting included the Action Plan for El Niño and the continuous monitoring of situational reports from Local Government Units (LGUs). These discussions are vital to ensure that the actions and programs implemented by these agencies and organizations are effective and responsive to the needs of communities affected by El Niño.
This gathering is a significant step in ensuring that all agencies and organizations involved in disaster risk reduction and management are united in their efforts to protect and improve the conditions of our fellow citizens affected by disasters and other calamities. Through continuous dialogue and cooperation, we can strengthen our capacity to face and respond to the challenges posed by disasters and climate change.
