The Bacoor City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) took the initiative to organize the highly anticipated 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 25, 2024. The event witnessed the active participation of esteemed government officials, including Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, and members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod.
The NSED garnered widespread attendance from various participants, including department heads, unit heads, city employees, several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Bacoor, and representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The primary objective of the event was to actively engage in the nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, emphasizing the importance of disaster preparedness and response. The drill took place during the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Strike Gymnasium, serving as a reminder of the significance of being prepared for potential earthquakes.
The participants were guided by well-trained personnel from the BDRRMO, who demonstrated the appropriate actions to take in the event of an earthquake. The drill encompassed crucial aspects such as drop, cover, and hold on, as well as evacuation procedures. The active involvement of department heads, unit heads, and city employees highlighted their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Bacoor City’s residents.
Mayor Strike B. Revilla expressed his gratitude to all the participants for their unwavering support and dedication to the drill. He underscored the necessity of preparedness in the face of natural disasters and reiterated Bacoor City’s commitment to safeguarding the community.
Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, along with the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, commended the efforts of the BDRRMO in organizing the successful NSED.
