In an exemplary display of commitment and dedication, the City of Bacoor has achieved a flawless score of 100% in the annual Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA). This outstanding achievement was officially recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region IV-A (CALABARZON) in a formal letter addressed to City Mayor Strike B. Revilla, dated June 21, 2024.
The audit, conducted from May 28 to June 3, 2024, involved a collaborative effort among several agencies, including the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources IV-A (BFAR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IV-A, National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), and Tanggol Kalikasan. It aimed to assess compliance with Republic Act No. 8550, known as “The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998,” as amended by Republic Act 10654, across coastal cities and municipalities within Cavite Province.
The audit’s findings underscore Bacoor’s effective implementation of policies and programs for sustainable fisheries management and marine- environmental protection. These efforts not only demonstrate regulatory compliance but also underscore the city’s commitment to preserving aquatic resources for future generations.
This milestone for Bacoor serves as a testament to the collaborative spirit and shared responsibility among local government units, national agencies, and the agri-fisheries community in safeguarding the marine environment and advancing sustainable development initiatives.
