The Office of Veterinary Services (OVS) is mandated to implement Animal Welfare Laws/Ordinances by delivering public veterinary health services and animal health services. As an organization dedicated to the support and protection of the well-being of animals, we help in ensuring a conducive environment for Bacooreños to live in.

To deliver quality veterinary services for a healthy animal population, the OVS aims to: (1) prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases such as Rabies, (2) educate pet owners on Animal Welfare Laws & Ordinances, (3) lessen the population of stray animals, and (4) secure the delivery of disease-free food from animal sources.
To help protect communities from the spread of the Rabies disease among both animals and humans, we have vaccinated a total of 21,341 dogs and cats against the Rabies in 37 barangays from January to November 2024.
We have also caught 40 stray dogs, impounded 199 dogs from the barangay. It is sad that irresponsible pet owners contribute greatly to the increase of stray dogs, leaving us the difficult task of euthanizing 178 strays. However, a few pet lovers have thankfully adopted 2 stray dogs among those caught.
Moreover, as part of our Animal Population Control Program, we held our annual Bacoor Pet Medical Mission: Free Spay & Castration for Aspins & Puspins, this time in partnership with the Veterinary Surgeons from the Philippine Pet Birth Control Foundation (PPBCCF). A total of 47 dogs & cats were castrated while 52 dogs and cats were spayed.
Conducting disease surveillance is another function of the OVS. We are continually monitoring swine among backyard raisers for any signs of African Swine Fever or ASF. So far, we have negative results.
We have also placed 3 Animal Quarantine Checkpoints located at Longos, Zapote, and Daanghari. This is to protect the movement of animals, animal products, and by-products by ensuring they have passed inspection by authorities.
The same is practiced at our Local Registered Meat Establishments where slaughtered food animals are checked for any signs of disease by our Meat Inspectors. Only by doing so are we then confident that food transported and sold in Bacoor markets are safe and fit for human consumption.
This summarizes the Office’s functions and accomplishments for this year. We commit to perform our duties and responsibilities with the utmost diligence.
