Prinsang Molino or Molino Dam, located in Barangay Molino 3, was constructed in the 19th century by the Spaniards. It is fed by two river systems which drains the eastern and western portion of the southern watershed.
According to the article Hacienda Irrigation Systems of Cavite, published by The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage, Bacoor City’s Prinsang Molino is one of the ten Spanish colonial dams constructed by the Recollects that began in 1780. The other dams were Casundit, San Agustin, Nangcaan, Pasong-Buaya, Sabotan, Julian, Lucsohin, Pasong Castila, Salitran, and Tansang Luma.
“These dams were constructed with tunnels and irrigation canals and were built of strong materials like adobe and bricks. Interconnecting tunnels were also built between these dams along rivers and creeks to collect water and save it for irrigation during long drought. Recollect lay brother Hilario Bernal designed the Molino Dam which was completed in 1890.
Prinsang Molino and its wall is perhaps the longest ever constructed in the country with a combined distance of more or less 350 meters, and that it should never be confused with Prinsang Ligas, which can be reached via Barangay San Nicolas.”
Being developed by the City of Bacoor, the top portion of the wall is envisioned as a promenade and exciting tourist destination.
