The Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) was established in 1902 as part of the broad nationalist struggle against Spanish colonialism and American imperialism. Since its institution, Bacoor has played a major role in upholding the religion. Mariano Noriel, a general of the rebellion, is the first president of the IFl men’s branch in Bacoor. This is one of the primary reasons why most people joined IFl and left their respective churches during the Spanish era.
