Being a well-loved centuries old tradition, Musiko is a marching band parade event in the City of Bacoor that enjoys a high number of participants coming from different parts of the country. It showcases the rich musical heritage of Bacoor and the invited marching band participants. This annual event preserves the traditions of marching bands, and promotes musical education that contributes to the progressive development of the marching band industry. It features colorful costumes and pageantry in musical entertainment.

As a major Bakood Festival event, it is an essential ingredient that led to former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s proclamation of Bacoor City as the “Marching Band Capital of the Philippines.”

This recognition is hallowed in Proclamation No. 939 that was signed and sealed on April 6, 2020. It recognizes the City of Bacoor’s historical significance and contribution to Philippine culture, and aims to sustain and preserve the tradition of marching bands through collaboration with local government units, government instrumentalities, and the private sector. It also acknowledges the integral role of marching bands in our shared heritage as it highlights the presence of marching bands in various Filipino traditions, fiestas, secular practices, inaugurations, and even their use as diversionary tactics during the Philippine Revolution.

As the City of Bacoor is the birthplace of some of the oldest and actively existing marching bands in the Philippines, it also serves as a home to community marching bands and school-based drum and lyre corps. This dynamic commitment to sustain and preserve the colorful tradition and fun-filled operations of marching bands throughout the country is spectacular as it is vibrant.
