Bacoor City recently hosted the MUSIKO 2024: The Grandest Marching Arts Competition in the Philippines, a resounding success that showcased the exceptional talents of some of the country’s best marching bands. Held at the Strike Gymnasium on September 21, 2024, the event was organized by the Bacoor City Culture, History, Arts and Tourism Department, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Mr. Edwin Guinto, and Mr. Agripino Pagdanganan, GSO Head.
Seven marching bands competed for the coveted title of the Grandest Marching Band field show in the Philippines, captivating the audience with their synchronized movements, intricate formations, and powerful musical performances. The participating bands included: Banda Kabataan 77, Incorporated – Bailen, Cavite; The Dragons of the Cabigao Youth Concert Band 88 – Cabigao Nueva Ecija; Saint Joseph Band ’98 – Gen.Emilio Aguinaldo Cavite; Citizens Brigade Bands of Dasmarinas – Dasmarinas Cavite; Victory Band Reunited 1940 – Rosario, Cavite; and BANDA kabyaw Incorporated – Cabigao Nueva Ecija.
MUSIKO 2024 served as a highlight of the 18th Bakood Festival and the 353rd founding anniversary celebration of Bacoor, solidifying its reputation as the “Marching Band Capital of the Philippines.” The event was sanctioned by the Asian Marching Band Confederation (AMBC) and the World Marching Band Organization (WMBO), adding international recognition to the competition. The competition began with a thrilling drumline battle and color guard battle on September 20th at the Strike Gym, setting the stage for the main event. The grand marching field show on September 21st at the Strike Gymnasium showcased the bands’ full prowess, followed by a vibrant marching street parade along Evangelista Road. The awarding ceremony concluded the festivities at the Bacoor Oval Track (Bacoor Elementary School).
MUSIKO 2024 was a testament to the dedication and artistry of the participating bands, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The event served as a platform for showcasing the talent and passion of young musicians, further solidifying Bacoor’s position as a hub for marching arts in the Philippines.
