July 17, 2024 – The inaugural School-Based Rescuelympics was held today from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Perpetual Help College Dalta, Molino Campus. Organized by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in collaboration with the Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO), the event marks a significant milestone in promoting disaster preparedness among students.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 213 students from various public elementary and high schools in Bacoor. The aim was to enhance the students’ abilities to respond effectively to emergency situations and align with the 36th Disaster Resilience Month, emphasizing “Bantayog ng Katatagan at ang Pagbubuklod sa Layuning Kahandaan.”
The competitions focused on critical emergency response skills, including bandaging techniques for the face/back of the head, chest, ear/cheek/jaw, forehead/eye, and shoulder, as well as lifting and moving techniques such as walking assist, cradle carry, pack strap carry, extremity carry, swing carry, hammock carry, and blanket carry.
The finals of the event will be held on July 17, with the results to be announced during the awarding ceremony on July 29, 2024. The Philippine Red Cross remains committed to supporting and conducting the Rescuelympics to promote disaster preparedness among the youth, fostering a culture of resilience and readiness within the community.
