Bacoor City, January 24, 2025 – The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Bacoor headed by Dr. Abraham “BOB” De Castro, in partnership with DOLE Cavite, celebrated “Araw ng Kasambahay” with a series of activities recognizing the crucial role of domestic workers in the community.
The event, held at the Revilla Hall, marked a significant milestone for Bacoor as the first city in CALABARZON to establish organized associations for domestic workers. Over 150 kasambahays and their employers participated in the celebration, which included a “Kasambida 2025” talent search, where eight kasambahay contestants showcased their skills and talents. The event also saw the official oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected kasambahay officers from Barangays Habay 1, Molino 6, and Ligas 1, the first three barangays in Bacoor to establish organized kasambahay associations. These officers received a 5K gift from Mayor Strike B. Revilla, recognizing their dedication to representing the interests of their fellow kasambahays.
The afternoon session focused on a public consultation and hearing on the minimum wage for domestic workers, led by the DOLE Regional Tripartite and Productivity Wage Board. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Pastor Mike Bautista, Mr. Noly Galvez, PESO Manager Dr. Abraham D. De Castro, DOLE Cavite Provincial Director Dir. Marivic B. Martinez, Mr. Randi Ocampo (Bacoor City Tourism Representative), Mr. Arman Albesa (LEDIPO Representative), Mrs. Ahmma Charisma L. Satumba (Former DOLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Director), Kap Ronald Javier (Molino 6), Kap George Medina (Ligas 1), Kap Jordean Bautista (P.F. Espiritu 4), Engr. Patrocinio S. Caisip (Board Member, Labor Representative), Mr. Englebert C. Lasang (Board Member, Labor Representative), Atty. Delia T. Uy (Board Member, Management Representative), Dir. Marissa C. Argente (Vice Chairperson, Regional Director DTI IV-A), and Atty. Katrina D. Galang-Bacani (Head Legal Attorney IV).
The event highlighted the City Government’s commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of domestic workers and ensuring their fair treatment and compensation. The celebration of Araw ng Kasambahay in Bacoor served as a platform for recognizing their contributions, fostering unity, and advocating for their well-being.
