Bacoor City, June 30, 2025 – The vibrant sounds of drums and lyres filled the air in Bacoor City today as elementary and high school students competed in a thrilling Drum & Lyre Street Parade and Drill Competition. Organized by the City Government of Bacoor’s Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, headed by Mr. Edwin Guinto, the event showcased the exceptional talent and dedication of young Bacooreños.
A total of 28 elementary school teams and 15 high school teams participated, displaying impressive precision and musicality. The competition, judged by a panel of experts, included a lively street parade from Ligas Elementary School along NOMO Road to the Strike Gymnasium (6:30 AM – 9:30 AM), followed by the drill competition at the gymnasium (10:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
The judges, Al-Amen Mapunud (Drumline), Ronald Victorama Beran (Keyboard Percussion), Kevin Glorioso (Visual Ensemble), Zaldy Basan (Drill Design), Mark Arnold Christopher Nano (General Effects Music), Xerxes Enrique Oira (General Effects Visual), and Chief Judge Ryan Gleserio Palamos, had the difficult task of selecting the winners from the impressive displays of skill. Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena B. Mendiola, Cong. Lani Mercado Revilla, Councilors Karen S. Evaristo, Coun. Mike Bautista and Horacio Brilliantes, LNB Vice President Kap Randy Francisco, and DepED School Division Superintendent Dr. Babylyn Pambid were in attendance, showing their support for the young musicians. The event was sponsored by Philippine Drum and Lyre Associates Inc., Maynilad, Chowking, and Shakeys.
