A transformative initiative, the Capability Building “Tara, Basa!” Tutoring Program, was successfully organized through the collaborative efforts of DSWD, CSWD, DEPED, and the Office of the Mayor. This program is designed to enhance literacy skills and empower the youth of Bacoor, marking a significant step towards educational development in the community.
Mayor Strike B. Revilla, the driving force behind this program, spearheaded the event alongside distinguished guests from the Ateneo Center of Education Development (ACED), including Ms. Rowena Andrada and Ms. Ainah Hanna Dumagsa as a Resource Person. The “Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program DSWD Team from Field Office Region IV-A Calabarzon and DSWD Central Office also played a crucial role in the program’s success.
Out of the 280 participants from Cavite State University, a remarkable 234 students from 3rd to 4th Year College actively engaged in the program. Additionally, 56 Youth Development Workers were present to provide support and guidance to parents who will be involved in the teaching process, emphasizing the collaborative effort towards educational empowerment. These students will serve as tutors for Grade 1 students transitioning to Grade 2 in DEPED, focusing on improving reading skills for those facing challenges.
Scheduled to run from July 1 to 26, 2024, in all Public Elementary Schools across Bacoor, symbolizing a commitment to education and community development within the city.
