“CARINA” IS NOW CROSSING TAIWAN AND NEARING THE NORTHERN BOUNDARY OF
THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (PAR).
Location of Center (4:00 AM): The center of the eye of Typhoon CARINA was estimated based on all available data at 465 km North of Itbayat, Batanes or in the vicinity of Hsinchu County, Taiwan (24.9°N, 121.0°E)
Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 250 km/h, and central pressure of 960 hPa
Present Movement: Northward at 20 km/h
Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds: Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 660 km from the center
