The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, held a spirited flag-raising ceremony on October 14, 2024, at the Strike Gymnasium. Hosted by the Bacoor Public Safety Unit (BPSU), the event brought together city officials, department heads, employees, and representatives from various government agencies, educational institutions, and NGOs.
The ceremony featured opening remarks by Hon. Alex Felizardo Gutierrez, City Councilor of District 1, and a moving opening prayer by Bishop Erickson Santos of the Bacoor City Transformation Office. The entrance of the color guard, composed of PNP Bacoor personnel, added a sense of ceremony and patriotism. The Bacoor Unity Band performed the Philippine National Anthem, setting the tone for the patriotic spirit of the event.
Key highlights included the “Panunumpa sa Watawat” (Pledge to the Flag) led by Ms. Lady Mae Obligat, the “Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan” (Pledge of Public Service) by Mr. Benjie Aboyme, and the “Panata ng Bagong Pilipinas” (Pledge of the New Philippines) by Mr. Yoshito John Macario. Ms. Lorna Carullo delivered the Quality Policy Statement, underscoring the commitment to excellence in public service. The DepEd Bacoor Choir performed the “Bagong Pilipinas Hymn,” the “Cavite Hymn,” and the “Bacoor Hymn,” showcasing the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The ceremony also included the awarding of certificates and recognition to several individuals and organizations. Four outstanding graduates received Latin Honors: Janine R. Aguilar (Magna Cum Laude), Jhoana Maica Joy B. Bernardo (Cum Laude), Carla Jeneva M. Rivas (Magna Cum Laude), and Meliza Mae Sabalza (Cum Laude). The City of Bacoor KOOP Quiz 2024 winners were also recognized, with Gabriel Lagurin from The Bearer of Light and Wishdom Colleges emerging as the champion.
The City Government of Bacoor received several awards, including the 2nd Cavite Gawad PAWID Awards for the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), headed by Ms. Angie Cariaso, for their “Best Innovative Program for Peace Building and Security” and the “Province of Cavite Most Outstanding Local Youth Development Office and Outstanding Local Youth Officer.” The Office of the General Services, headed by Mr. Jeng Pagdanganan, was also recognized by the GSIS for their outstanding work.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of graduates from the Bacoor Computer Center and the Department of Information and Communication Technology, followed by an accomplishment report on the BPSU presented by Mr. Lemour Melo. Ms. Cecil D. Miranda, Provincial Officer of the Public Safety Provincial Government of Cavite, delivered a special message, highlighting the importance of public safety and community engagement. The event was concluded with a special message from Mayor Strike B. Revilla, delivered by Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista Mendiola.
The flag-raising ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the city’s commitment to progress, community development, and public service. The event showcased the achievements of Bacoor residents, institutions, and organizations, fostering a sense of unity and pride within the community.
