Bacoor City, April 23, 2025 – The City Government of Bacoor, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Education (DepEd), launched a Capability Building program for the ongoing “Tara Basa” tutoring program today. The event, held at the Revilla Hall, aimed to equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively teach reading and writing to struggling students.
Mayor Strike B. Revilla, along with representatives from the DSWD Field Office Region IV-A Calabarzon and the DSWD Central Office, graced the occasion. The program is designed to help Grade 1 students who are transitioning to Grade 2 and are facing difficulties with reading and writing. A team of Cavite State University students, working alongside experienced Youth Development Workers, will serve as tutors under the “Tara Basa” program, guiding the students in their literacy development. The program will be implemented in public elementary schools throughout Bacoor City.
This “Tara Basa” program is an ongoing initiative, signifying the City Government’s dedication to improving literacy rates and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed in their education. Mayor Strike B. Revilla emphasized the importance of the program, stating that it aligns with the city’s initiative to provide free eyeglasses to students, recognizing that some may have difficulty reading due to poor eyesight.
