Bacoor City, August 4, 2025 — The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla and facilitated by Mr. Richard Quion, head of the Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO), held a significant meeting with the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) at the Office of the Mayor.
The discussion focused on the “Sinag Pag-asa Project,” a collaborative initiative aimed at providing portable, solar-powered lighting solutions to disaster-prone communities and evacuation centers across the Philippines. This project seeks to enhance disaster resiliency by ensuring access to sustainable and reliable lighting during emergencies, a vital need for Bacoor, which frequently faces typhoons and flooding.
Ms. Hannah Panda of ASSIST joined Mayor Strike in the meeting to plan the deployment of these portable solar-powered lights to evacuation centers and disaster-affected areas within Bacoor. ASSIST, a self-sustaining pan-Asian non-profit organization, is committed to empowering communities and building resilience against social, economic, and environmental challenges through collaboration and capacity building under their philosophy, “Partners for Progress.”
The City Government of Bacoor extends its sincere gratitude to ASSIST for their invaluable support and partnership in improving the lives of Bacooreños, especially in enhancing disaster preparedness and sustainability.
