On February 17, 2025, the City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla and Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista Mendiola, commemorated the 153rd anniversary of the martyrdom of the Gomburza – Fathers Mariano Gomes, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora – with a solemn ceremony and a moving parade at the Plaza De Padre Mariano Gomes in Barangay Poblacion. The event, organized by the Bacoor City Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs under the leadership of Mr. Edwin Guinto, brought together a diverse group of attendees.
The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Cong. Lani Mercado Revilla, Cong. Bryan Revilla of Agimat Partylist, the 1st District City Councilors, SK President Palm Angel Buncio and SK Officials, 1st Lt. Emmanuel Ernek Sapinoso, Alpha Company Commander of the 402nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Barangay Poblacion officials led by LnB Vice President Randy Francisco and the Barangay Council, Dr. Babylyn Pambid, School Division Superintendent of Bacoor, Obispo from the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) and the Ecumenical Christian Conference (ECC), and descendants of Padre Mariano Gomes.
The commemoration began with a solemn parade from the IFI Bacoor Cathedral to the Plaza De Padre Mariano Gomes. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the plaza, followed by a Mass at the IFI Bacoor Cathedral, which also marked the 27th anniversary of the IFI-ECC Concordat of Full Communion.
The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the Gomburza, who dedicated their lives for the freedom and well-being of the Philippines. Their unwavering love for their country, even in the face of persecution, continues to inspire generations of Filipinos.
