Bacoor City, February 3, 2025 – Mayor Strike B. Revilla met with Major Arnold Penales, head of the PNP Maritime, today at the Strike Conference Room to discuss concerns regarding illegal fishing, dynamite fishing, and unregistered boats operating in Bacoor’s waters.
The meeting focused on finding solutions to curb these illegal activities and protect the city’s marine resources. Mayor Strike B. Revilla emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the City Government and the PNP Maritime to address these issues effectively.
City Administrator Atty. Aimee T. Neri and City Agriculture Head Mr. Allan Chua were also present at the meeting. Mr. Chua raised concerns about the frequent apprehension of Bacoor fishermen by authorities in Paranaque when delivering tahong, with a fine fee of 5k per person. This issue was discussed to explore possible solutions and ensure the smooth operation of Bacoor’s fishing industry.
Major Penales committed to providing weekly operational reports to the City Government, keeping them informed of the PNP Maritime’s activities and progress in addressing illegal fishing practices. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to collaboration and cooperation between the City Government and the PNP Maritime to protect Bacoor’s marine resources and ensure the safety and livelihood of its fishermen.
