Bacoor City – The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, met with representatives from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Cavite Batangas IMO (CBIMO) today to discuss crucial initiatives aimed at mitigating flooding and enhancing water supply in the city. The meeting, organized by the City Engineering Office headed by Engr. Jicky Jutba, was attended by key officials from both organizations.
From the City Government of Bacoor, the attendees included Mayor Strike B. Revilla and Engr. Jicky Jutba. Representing the NIA Cavite Batangas IMO were Mr. Edwin Nazareno, Mr. Blue Kevin Borreo, Mr. Jhubelle Vernadette Magnayi, Mr. Jayvie Period, and Ms. April Albaniel. The primary focus of the meeting was to address the dredging of Molino Dam, Ligas Dam, and San Nicolas Dam, as well as the repair of the valve systems in each dam. These efforts are crucial in preparing for the upcoming rainy season and minimizing the risk of flooding in Bacoor City, as the dredging will also help increase the dams’ capacity to hold water, further mitigating flood risks during heavy rains.
A significant aspect of the discussion centered on the dredging of Molino Dam. The project aims to deepen the dam, allowing Maynilad Water Services, Inc. to utilize the water for its supply network. This initiative is expected to alleviate water shortages in Bacoor City, particularly during the dry season. Dredging operations for Molino Dam are scheduled to commence on Monday, February 3, 2025. Discussions also included plans for the dredging and repair of Ligas Dam, with a draft Memorandum of Agreement ( MOA ) to be finalized for this project in the near future.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from both the City Government of Bacoor and the NIA to collaborate on these vital projects. This partnership underscores the dedication of both organizations to ensure the safety and well-being of BacooreƱos by mitigating flood risks and enhancing water security. The collaborative efforts between the City Government of Bacoor and the NIA demonstrate a proactive approach to addressing critical challenges facing the community, ensuring a safer and more sustainable future for Bacoor City.
