The Liga ng mga Barangay (LNB) of Bacoor held its regular meeting yesterday, September 3, 2024, at the Bulwagan ng Liga ng Barangay, focusing on crucial issues affecting the City.
The meeting was graced by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla, and several key officials including Councilor Rey Palabrica, Coun. Simplicio Dominquez, Coun. Bok Nolasco, Coun. Obet Advincula, Coun. Mike Solis, Coun. Levy Tela, Coun. Alex Gutierrez, SK Pres. Palm Angel Buncio, BM Rafael Paterno, and LNB Vice President Randy Francisco.
Guest speakers included Ms. Leslie Morales, BTMD Head, Nurse Kyle Angat of the Office of City Health Services (OCHS), and a Representative from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The meeting centered around several key topics:
◾Dog Impounding: The LNB discussed the endorsement from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, specifically Ordinance No. 872 Series of 2024, which amends City Ordinance No. 279-2023. This amendment intensifies dog impounding activities and field control, mandating a designated Dog Catcher for each Barangay and outlining penalties for violations.
◾Health Concerns: The OCHS presented updates on MPOX, Dengue, and other health concerns.
◾Flood Mitigation: Mayor Strike addressed the ongoing challenges posed by flooding, urging barangays to continue monitoring flood levels and work collaboratively on solutions to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall.
◾ HIV Awareness: The meeting highlighted the rising cases of HIV and emphasized the need for increased monitoring and awareness campaigns.
◾Rabies Prevention: The LNB discussed the alarming number of rabies-related deaths caused by dog bites and urged barangays to work closely with the City Government to address this issue.
◾ Leptospirosis Awareness: Participants were reminded of the dangers of Leptospirosis, a bacterial disease spread through contaminated water, especially during flood situations.
The meeting served as a platform for open dialogue and collaboration between the City Government and the Barangays, aiming to address pressing issues and ensure the well-being of Bacooreños.
