Bacoor City, August 21, 2024 – The City Government of Bacoor conducted a crucial meeting today to address the ongoing threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the city. Led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Councilor Karen S. Evaristo, City Administrator Atty. Aimee T. Neri, and representatives from various departments and the Philippine National Police (PNP), the meeting took place at the Strike Multi-Purpose Hall.
The main objective of the meeting was to provide Mayor Strike B. Revilla with a comprehensive update on the ASF situation in Bacoor and to develop a proactive response plan.
Mayor Strike B. Revilla emphasized the urgency of taking immediate action to prevent the spread of ASF. He urged the City Veterinary Services to launch a public awareness campaign, advising hog raisers to proactively cull their pigs to minimize the disease’s impact.
Dr. Ella Mae Gandia, the head of the Office of the City Veterinary Services, suggested the establishment of checkpoints at all nine entry points of Bacoor, including Sto. Nino, Gasso Gawaran, Soldier Hills (Marcos Alvarez and Molino Road), Jollibee Molino, Meadows Daang Hari, Shell Gasoline Station Pag-Asa, Springville Heights Blue Avenue, and the Bacoor Coliseum. These checkpoints will act as crucial barriers to prevent the entry of infected animals into the city.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to collaborate in safeguarding Bacoor from the devastating effects of ASF. The city government will continue to closely monitor the situation and implement necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and livestock.
