July 5, 2024 – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) marked a significant milestone with the successful graduation ceremony of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program, held at the Bacoor City Jail Male-Dormitory Covered Court. This momentous event, themed “Kabataang Pilipino Para sa Matatag na Kinabukasan ng Bagong Pilipinas,” underscored the vital role of education in transforming the lives of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The event celebrated the achievements of both male and female PDLs who completed their elementary and junior high school education through the ALS program. The program, which aims to provide basic education and essential skills, is a testament to the potential for personal growth and positive change, even within the confines of jail facilities. In total, 27 individuals graduated from the elementary level (8 males and 19 females) and 43 individuals graduated from the junior high school level (20 males and 23 females).
The graduation was more than a ceremony; it was a celebration of hope, transformation, and the enduring power of education. It served as a powerful reminder that education can change lives and build a better future, even for those in the most challenging situations.
