BGC Lobby/Revilla Hall, September 8, 2025 – Bacoor City welcomed a delegation from South Korea today for the presentation of the Bacoor Smart City Master Plan Interim Report. The event, organized by Mr. Lodgene Asuncion, E-Gov/MIS Head, was attended by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena B. Mendiola, city councilors, department/unit heads, and Mr. Allen Reyes.
The Korean delegation included Professor Kabsung Kim, Researcher Sangyun Lee, and Researcher Jaegyu Jung from Yonsei University. Representatives from RMS Platform, including CEO/Speaker Yunho Lee, Department Head Yuomi Jeon, Director Teajin Seo, and assistants Junwon Sung and Hyeonhwa Sim, were also present. Additionally, KIND was represented by Asst. Manager Nayeon Jeong and Researcher Healn Lee.
The presentation focused on tackling climate change, strengthening urban competitiveness, enhancing cooperation, and supporting sustainable development with a tailored smart city proposal for Bacoor City. Key challenges addressed in the plan include traffic congestion caused by flood-prone lowlands and inadequate road systems, requiring solutions for drainage and intersection bottlenecks.
The project aims to develop context-specific urban growth strategies, implement pilot projects, and initiate follow-up initiatives to realize the plan and position Bacoor for digital transformation. The proposed solutions include better public transport, signal upgrades, clear emergency alerts, smart traffic CCTV installation, local training and group activities, and raising awareness of storm drain management.
The Bacoor Smart City Master Plan envisions a systematic approach, from services to business models, to build a sustainable smart city, improve quality of life, and drive economic growth for the city and its residents.
