The City Government of Bacoor convened a coordination meeting to address key concerns and implementation challenges under the YAKAP-PhilHealth Program, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare services for every Bacooreño.
The meeting was presided over by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, together with City Administrator Atty. Imee Torrefranca-Neri, to assess the current status of the program, identify operational gaps, and develop practical solutions to improve service delivery.
Among the primary concerns discussed were challenges in PhilHealth member registration, particularly the requirement for patients to register through the eGov App or the PhilHealth Member Portal. Many residents continue to encounter difficulties due to limited digital literacy, lack of internet access, and the absence of personal contact information.
The meeting also tackled the impact of existing PhilHealth requirements, including real-time processing and the mandatory personal appearance of members, which have contributed to longer processing times and delays in accessing services.
Other operational concerns raised included:
📋 Limited 30-minute consultation period per patient
💻 Backlogs in data encoding and patient assignment
🏥 Residents’ preference for private YAKAP-accredited facilities due to shorter waiting times and more comprehensive services
Joining the discussion were Dra. Ivy Marie Yarastorsa, Head of the Office of the City Health Services; Ms. Lilian Ugalde, Head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office; and representatives from various city departments and the YAKAP-PhilHealth Program.
During the meeting, Mayor Strike B. Revilla emphasized the importance of promptly addressing these concerns to ensure that every qualified Bacooreño can fully benefit from the YAKAP-PhilHealth Program and receive the quality healthcare services they deserve.
The City Government remains committed to working closely with its partner agencies to improve healthcare access and continuously enhance public service delivery for the welfare of all residents.
